There was reason to celebrate in Rockford this year. Not only did the school win the National Shield in Senior Volleyball but they also became All-Ireland Champions in Junior Volleyball!
The All-Ireland match was well supported by each team with busloads of school students travelling from Dublin to Galway for the Championship match. It was a nail-biting finish with Rockford Manor’s squad beating the Sutton team in the last set, 15-7. Junior Squad Captain, Emma Gojak, stated “The journey down was tense but the minute we got on the court we felt that we were ‘home’ - we stayed calm and enjoyed ourselves”. The team has put in blood, sweat and many tears over the last few months preparing for the final. With such big wins for a such a small school, it is evident that Rockford Manor is not afraid to compete in the big leagues. It is an occasion Rockford Manor’s girls will celebrate for many months to come!
We also play basketball and badminton. We are hoping to extend our student participation in other sports, like soccer and rugby for 2023-2024. Watch this space!
