The Leaving Cert Applied Programme

Rockford Manor runs an extremely successful Leaving Certificate Applied Programme which is available every two years for a limited number of students.

This programme in Rockford has been judged by the Department of Education & Skills to be amongst the very best in Ireland.

Under the direction of Ms. Sandra Joyce Rockford LCA students have consistently acheived outstanding results in State Examinations.

It is a two-year Leaving Certificate available to students who wish to follow a practical or vocationally orientated programme.

Assessment

The students’ work is assessed over two years for which they gain credits.

Practicals, interviews and terminal written papers are among the different forms of assessment used.

The students’ communication, problem solving and practical skills are also assessed.

Work Experience

There are four work experience sessions that allow students to choose a career which suits their needs.

 On completing the LCA Programme, students can continue their education by progressing on to Post Leaving Certificate Courses and Third Level Institutes of Technology.

4. Information Technology.
5. Vocational Specialisms - Hotel, Catering & Tourism and Information Technology.
6. Arts Education.
7. Languages-Gaeilge and Spanish.
8. Leisure and Recreation.
9. Social Education.
10. Elective Modules-Science & Religious Education.
