Rockford manor green schools initiative

Green-Schools is a student led programme that promotes long term whole school action for the improvement of the environment. Litter and Waste is the first theme of the Green-Schools Programme. The theme is a great starting point for encouraging a sense of personal pride and responsibility in tackling two visible issues in our school and community.

Our Rockford Manor Green-Schools Committee was established in this academic year 2018-2019. Twenty five eager, environmental enthusiasts signed up to make a difference.

So far we have introduced:

  • Green Bins in each classroom
  • A notice board displaying messages.
  • An educational campaign for the whole school.
  • An Instagram and a Twitter account.

Our ultimate aim is to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill, increase the amount of recycling in the school and improve pupils’ awareness about the positive impact of effective waste management.
