Active Schools Week
This took place during the week 27th April – 1st May 201.
The P.E. department arranged a number of activities to raise awareness of this event. Each morning at Assembly, the whole school took part in a dance activity.
The final event of the week was the Annual Student Teacher basketball match on Friday, May 1st.
During the interval the teachers entertained the school with a display of their dancing skills (this followed some intensive coaching sessions from Miriam Howlin!)
It was a fantastic success.
Special thanks to P.E teacher Miriam Howlin who organised the entire programme of events.
Needless to say the Student/ Teacher Basketball match was won by the teachers! That’s 57 years in a row. Even less surprising they completed the double when winning the dance-off.

Vally was placed second out of 130 candidates.
Medals were awarded to the top 8 students. Vally was the only female prizewinner.
She will now go on to 3 days intensive Chemistry training over the Easter Holidays in DCU.
This training will finish with an exam and the top four candidates will win the opportunity to participate in the World Chemistry Olympiad in Summer 2015.
Well done Vally, and also congratulations to Chemistry teacher Ms. Peutz.
Seactain na Gaeilge
To mark Seactain na Gaeilge a table quiz (as Gaeilge) took place in the sports hall on Friday, March 13th.
The table quiz was for all First, Second & Third Year classes and was organised by the Transition Years.

Drugs Awareness
Ms. Lil Hennigan, S.P.H.E. co-ordinator arranged a series of talks for all of the students in the school.
Three speakers from Narcotics Anonymous addressed each class group describing their experiences. . All of the recovering addicts stated that cannabis was the first illegal drug that they had used.
The feedback from the students was that this was a very worthwhile exercise.
A further meeting to address parents is being organised.
Garda Nora Sutton, community Garda in this area, also addressed each Junior Cycle class on the issue of drug abuse this term.
