Rockford Manor students competed in the” P.E EXPO 2016” on the 11th of March, with three TYP students winning First Prize in the Nutrition Category.

This competition is similar to the Young Scientist Competition, with students producing a project to do with Physical Education.
Transition Year, 5th and 2nd year students took part. The girls that took participated worked very hard, spending time in school and outside school to work on their projects. They had regular meetings with Miss Howlin to help guide their projects in the right direction.

With 32 schools entering and 132 projects, Rockford manor won First Prize in the Nutrition Category . The title of the winning project was ‘Energy Drinks’ by Aoibh Hall, Chloe Bowden Wilson, Aoife Farrel and Chloe Breen. Well done all

T.Y.P. students attended The 10th Annual Terenure College ‘Leaders On Our Level’ Conference in the Convention Centre on March 11th.
The event saw a series of speakers talk to 2,000 students in attendance.
Special guests included adventurer Mark Pollock pictured here with Ms. O’Toole, Ms. O’Sullivan & Ms. Farrell.

Other speakers included musician and author Bressie, ex Ireland Women’s Rugby Captain Fiona Coghlan, Kerry footballing Legend Colm Cooper, Fiona Carey, Director of Operations, Microsoft, sports psychologist Enda McNulty, Michael Carey, Chairman, Bord Bia, Donna Reilly, HR Business Partner, AIB, Fr. Peter McVerry and Bernard Byrne, Chief Executive, AIB.

Congratulations to Anthea Ring 2nd year finished in third place in the All Ireland Bake off competition on March 4th in Ardscoil Na Trionoide, Athy, Co. Kildare. This event was sponsored by Odlums.

The competition is open to all students attending CEIST schools. Anthea was the only finalist from Dublin and had been shortlisted as one of seven in the Junior category.
Congratulations Anthea on such an achievement.

The choir attended the Emmanuel Concert in the Helix DCU on Weds. 2nd March.
The Emmanuel Concert involves over 60 Dublin schools. Three Rockford Manor students got the coveted position of singing solo on the night with all of the schools joining in with the choruses.
It was a terrific night of both new and old liturgical music.
Well done to all who participated in the A.I.B Build A Bank Regional Finals in Leopardstown on Weds. Feb 24th.

Students of Rockford Manor celebrated Catholic Schools Week (1st – 5th February 2016).
The theme for this year was “Mercy”. Students were challenged to think of ways individuals, schools and communities can show mercy to others. First year students designed posters to highlight the struggle of refugees. Students learned that at present there has been the biggest displacement of people since World War II and that mercy should be at the forefront of dealing with this terrible crisis.
